Booking & Departure Information
Our canal cruises depart from two central locations in Amsterdam: near Central Station and near the Rijksmuseum. After booking, you will receive the exact address and a Google Maps link so you can easily find the departure point.
We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before departure. Boarding starts shortly before the cruise begins. If you arrive late, the boat may already have left.
Booking in advance is recommended, especially during weekends and high season. Canal cruises in Amsterdam often sell out, particularly on sunny days.
Sometimes tickets are available at the departure point, but availability cannot be guaranteed. Booking online ensures you have a seat on the boat.
Yes, in most cases you can change your booking if there is availability on another departure time. Contact our team and we will help you reschedule.
Yes. In most cases you can cancel your booking up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund. Please check your confirmation email for the exact cancellation terms.
If you arrive after the boat has departed, we unfortunately cannot guarantee a new seat. If there is space on a later cruise, we will always try to help you.
Booking at least a few days in advance is recommended during busy seasons.
Yes. Popular departure times can sell out quickly, especially in spring and summer.
Sometimes same-day bookings are possible if seats are still available.
Drinks & On Board
Some canal cruises include drinks such as beer, wine and soft drinks. Other tours offer drinks for purchase on board. Check the product description to see what is included.
Certain cruises include typical Dutch snacks such as cheese and other small bites depending on the tour.
Most small open canal boats do not have a toilet on board. We recommend using a restroom before boarding.

Weather & What to Wear
Yes. During colder months the boats are covered and heated so guests can enjoy a comfortable cruise even in winter.
Yes. From March onwards all our boats are open so you can fully enjoy the sunshine and views of Amsterdam’s canals.
Yes. Light rain is usually not a problem. We have umbrellas and ponchos on board, and Amsterdam has more than 1,000 bridges where we can temporarily shelter. If heavy rain is expected we may move your cruise to another time. Guests may also cancel if the weather conditions are severe.
Even on warm days it can feel cooler on the water. Bringing a light jacket is always a good idea.
In rare cases of extreme weather the cruise may be cancelled for safety reasons. If that happens you will be offered a new departure time or a refund.
Most open boats have options such as umbrellas, ponchos or temporary covers to protect guests from rain.
Some companies operate heated and covered boats during winter months, while others operate seasonal open boats.
Comfortable clothing is recommended. A light jacket is useful because it can be cooler on the water.
Children, Accessibility & Safety
Yes, most canal cruises are suitable for all ages. Children are welcome on board and often enjoy seeing the city from the water.
Children under 4 years old can join for free. If the boat is very full, they may need to sit on a parent’s lap.
Yes, babies are welcome on board. However, small boats may have limited space for strollers.
Many small canal boats have steps and may not be fully wheelchair accessible. Please contact us in advance so we can advise you on the best option.
Only certified service dogs are allowed on board. Other dogs are unfortunately not permitted.
Yes. All boats follow strict safety regulations and are operated by licensed captains.
Life jackets are available on board in case of emergency as required by Dutch safety regulations.
